- Republic of Djibouti, country of East Africa situated in the entrance of the Red Sea, limited in the East by the bay of Aden, in the southeast by Somalia, in the South and on the West by Ethiopia and in the North by Érythrée. Djibouti is separated from the Arabique ( Yemen ) peninsula by the strait of Bab el Mandeb, 30 km in width. The surface does not exceed 23 200 km2 and its capital is the city of Djibouti
