- São Tomé and Príncipe, officially democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe, island country of Occidental Africa, situated in about 200 km in the wide of the Atlantic rib, in the bay of Guinea. Formed two main islands, São Tomé (859 km2) and Príncipe (142 km2), and several small islands, with which Pedras Tinhosa and Rolas, the archipelago covers a total surface of 964 km2. The capital is the city of São Tomé.
