- Malaysia, federal State of Southeast Asia, including Southern half of Malacca's peninsula (Occidental Malaysia or Malaysia) and northerly third of the island of Borneo ( oriental Malaysia). Malaysia has a total surface of 329 667 km2. Kuala Lumpur is the federal capital and most big city of the country. Occidental Malaysia (or Malaysia), of a surface of 131 598 km2, is limited to the North by the Thailand, to the South by Singapore, on the West by the strait of Malacca and in the East by South China Sea. Oriental Malaysia, of a surface of 198 069 km2 (Sarawak, 124 449 km2!; Sabah, 73 620 km2), is lined in the North and on the West by South China Sea, in the East by the sea of Sulu and the sea of Celebes, and in the South by the Indonesian province of Kalimantan. The sultanate independent from Brunei forms a coastal enclave in the North of Sarawak.
