- Bosnia-Herzegovina (in Serbian - Croatian Bosna i Hercegovina), officially republic of Bosnia-Herzegovina, State of oriental Europe, situated in the peninsula balkanique, lined, in the North and on the West, by Croatia, on the West , by the Adriatic Sea, in the South and in the East by the Federal republic of Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro). Bosnia-Herzegovina (sometimes simply called Bosnia) extends over 51 129 km2!; Sarajevo is the capital and most big city of the country. The ancient constituent republic of the federative socialist Republic of Yugoslavia, Bosnia-Herzegovina declared one-sidedly its independence in March, 1992!; a civil war, putting in Serbian, Croatian grips and Moslems, burst then in the country. Conflict came to an end in November, 1995, during the signature of the agreements of Dayton, which confirmed the partition of the country in a croato-Moslem Union and a Serbian Republic.
