- Greece (in Greek Elláda or Ellás), officially Hellenic Republic, country of the southeast of Europe, at the end of the peninsula of the Balkans, lined in the northwest by Albania, in the North by the Macedonia and Bulgaria, in the northeast by Turkey, in the East by the sea the Aegean Sea, in the South by the Mediterranean Sea and on the West by the Ionian Sea. The State covers a total surface of 131 957 km2, a fifth of which about is constituted by islands situated in seas Aegean Sea and Ionian. Athens is the capital and most big city of the country.
