Organization of the African unity ( OUA), inter-African organization based in 1963 to promote unity and solidarity of the African States, to harmonize military and political, economic, cultural, medical, scientific lines of conduct, to defend independence and territorial integrity of States members and to eliminate the colonialism of Africa. THE OUA is so completely marked by the principles of the Pan-Africanism. All the independent States are eligible to become members of the OUA. The organization contains now 52 States members, the most recent two being memberships those of Érythrée, which became member having obtained its independence in 1991, and from South Africa since 1994. Morocco suspended its participation in 1985 to protest against the admittance of the Arabic Republic sahraouie democratic ( RASD) in 1982. The seat of the OUA is in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia. From the birth, the OUA pronounced for the principle of the intangibility of borders. It defended so the unity of Nigeria and Zaire against separatism. It militated also for the independence of the Portuguese colonies (Angola, Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau, São Tomé e principle). One can raise three priorities in the charter of the OUA, which makes reference to that of the UNO and to the universal Statement of human rights: "! The sovereign equality of States members, non-intervention in their internal affairs and respect for the sovereign power, for the territorial integrity and for the inalienable right of each of them in an independent existence.!
